Priorities in check? They are now!

Thursday, February 24th, 2005

Thanks Wendi! She very nicely reminded me that my car is such a minor issue in my life right now compared to the stuff I have going on. I’ll work up from least significant to most

Got my taxes prepared this morning, and its not going to be as bad as I thought. That’s a huge sigh of relief! I also am picking up the live Foundations class at UD GSM starting in the summer! That will be very exciting and will help replace the income we miss from Chris not working.

Adam & Courtney had their baby this week! He looks SO cute and I can only hope that our kid looks just as cute. His eyes were open and everything. Such a cutie

And Chris is getting VERY close! We’re expecting any time now based on what the doc said yesterday. She’s having a massage today and I know Kelly will hit those particular pressure points that help labor along. I’m certainly getting more excited as it appears there is a light at the end of the tunnel (just re-read that and realized there is a light for more than me!). I know I’m very excited to meet him. Not only that, but anyone who knows me knows that I like having a plan (even if that plan is to wing it, it’s still a plan). Right now, that is just impossible! It will be worth it, and we’re both looking forward to it.

So I want to say a special Thank You to Wendi who reminded me which things are important and allowed me to publicly adjust my priorities. Love ya!

Final Car Update

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005

OK! Just picked up the Tahoe and it is running like it was before my lovely transmission incident. GM did in fact stand behind their product (1/2 way anyway) and split the repair cost with me. I had Huffines do a couple of other minor maintenance items to the car while they had it and it’s now back in the driveway. Phew, glad that is over.

Anyway, thought you would like to know!

Car Update

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005

I just called Huffines and talked to Betty up in service. After dropping the transmission they said the reaction shell had failed. So in order to replace all of this, the total cost is close to $1,100. Not nearly the price of a new transmission! I’m slightly pleased with this news. Included in the price is all the diagnostic work and a mini-overhaul (new gaskets, fluids, etc). We’re waiting to hear back from my rep at GM to see what will happen next as far as any aide in repairs.

Stay tuned for more fanciness.

Like a Rock? My ass…

Saturday, February 19th, 2005

This is the 3rd GM car I have personally owned, though we have had many GM cars throughout both of our lives (Chris and mine), and my parents used to be exclusive GM customers. I’m driving to pick up dinner and at 62K miles, my ’02 Chevy Tahoe transmission decides it will destroy itself. What the hell? 62K miles!?? That ain’t no rock I’ve ever heard of.

So it appears that I am going to be out a few grand to get a replacement. I will say, I’m glad it happened now instead of driving through traffic to get my laboring wife to the hospital to give birth. Boy, that would have been a fun day.

I called GM and told them my story and they basically want me to take it to a local dealer for diagnosis at MY COST and then MAYBE they MIGHT do something for me. Thats bullshit if I ever heard of it. The right thing to do would be to stand behind the product. I am perfectly willing to pay part of the cost, but the way GM wants it, I could get nothing. They want a commitment from me without a commitment from them. Blind faith is somthing I reserve for religion, not car repair.

Anyway… thats my lovely story. Instead of enjoying my day off on Monday, I’ll probably be heading for the torture chambers.

Yeah uhm… well…

Yeh, James updates his blog, but has he blogged? Not so much. Though he did have a quick bout of food poisoning, so maybe that’s part of it. Who knows. I’ll be chilling with him on Thursday in Austin. Luckily enough, my hotel is on 6th Street. Go figure.

We FINALLY got the rest of the baby furniture pieces in today, and there was still a pretty big chunk taken out. Its at the top and not very noticeable, but sheesh. QC is definitely an issue, as is their ability to pack materials for shipping. Dad came by and after about an hour of assembly, we have a nice looking armoire.

Well, we’re pretty pathetic. Staying home tonight, trying to get well. Gonna wish Brent a Happy 30th Birfday tomorrow so that will be fun Anyway… Hi to Katy, Cooper and soon Matt when he gets home finally. Hope you all have a great weekend, and I’ll catch you on the flip side.

Hopefully the wacky spam will decrease. Hell, I’m still dealing with oddities over here I need to fix.

Damn bacteria…

Tuesday, February 8th, 2005

Yes, I know there is good bacteria, but the bad stuff just sucks. Somehow it got into my head and its all stuffed up and green. Gross…

Well SuperBowl was fun. Got the new grill all fired up and I am sure we drained about half of the keg. Also got the new stroller together. Man it sure is neat the stuff they have nowadays.

I’m going to try and get me some cold relief!

More girly by the day

Thursday, February 3rd, 2005

Sorry I have not written in a while, been busy with work, new kid stuff, etc. This week I went up to St. Paul for our regional Holiday party which was quite a bit of fun. Sandy hooked us up with massages and manicures at Mell’s Beauty Bar in downtown Minneapolis.

Woh, wait a tick, did you say Manicure? Yep… And I got one. Not so bad I might add! When I am doing more schmoozing and getting more face time with clients, you bet I’ll be doing it more regularly. Just one of those simple little image things that makes a difference.

Yesterday and today I was delivering a workshop for one of our clients. Man, that was a little stressful. Not only had I never done one before, I was just not very comfortable with the material. As a matter of fact, my co-worker pretty much put the whole thing together and all I did was stand up and talk for 3 hours each day. Alas, its finished, and now I am all about getting work finished and signed.

SuperBowl is coming up! WOOT!!!! Damn I’m looking forward to it. Oh, and the Baby Pool is up to $220. Call me if you want in!
